- Move your car to a safe location. Do not get out of your car if it is not safe and never stand in between cars.
- Call the police. Even if the other person tries to persuade you not to. People always seem to change their story after they leave the accident scene.
- Obtain the other driver’s license and insurance information.
- Take pictures of all involved cars. Include the license plates, car damages and the accident scene.
- Obtain names and contact information of all witnesses. Do NOT rely on the police to do this, they often do not.
- Report accident to your insurance company. Explain how the accident occurred and if you have any pain.
- Do NOT speak to the other person’s insurance company. They are not on your side and will look for ways to find you at fault.
- Seek immediate medical attention for any pain. It is very important to document your injuries.
- Complete a No-Benefits Application form. If you were injured, you have 30 days to do this.
